Radiofrequency Microneedling
What is radiofrequency microneedling?
Microneedling works by inserting tiny needles into the skin surface while at the same time delivering high-intensity radiofrequency through the needles into the targeted area. This stimulates the body’s collagen production which helps to regenerate skin and provide a more youthful appearance.
Three treatments, one month apart are usually recommended for the best results. Microneedling can be combined with FSR (fractional skin resurfacing) for maximum results!
What to expect at my appointment?
On arrival to our office, you will have a full consultation with your microneedling provider. You and your provider will discuss your aesthetics goals to develop a treatment plan that you’re comfortable with. Depending on your treatment area you can expect to be at our office about 2 hours as a topical numbing agent will need to be applied 45-60 minutes prior to your procedure.
During the microneedling procedure, your provider will use a machine in inject small needles into your treatment area. Just about any area on your body can benefit from the tightening and rejuvenation microneedling provides. Most patients describe feeling a “pressure” from the needle or feel the heat from the radiofrequency.
Microneedling treatments can be combined with FSR (fractional skin resurfacing) and/or PRP for additional added benefits. Skin products, including growth factor and hyaluronic acid, will be applied to your skin post-procedure to soothe the skin.
What will my recovery from microneedling be like?
Starting immediately following your microneedling procedure, you will notice redness and sensitivity to your skin. Mild redness can last 24-48 hours post-treatment. To protect skin it is important to follow the skin care regimen discussed with your provider. Avoid any exfoliants including AHA, BHA, alcohol-based toners, retinols and vitamin C for at least 3-5 days post procedure. It is also important to avoid scrubbing skin. Sun protection is vital during this time so it is advised to apply sunscreen daily.
Some crusting, dry skin and microneedling marks will appear following procedure and resolve in about 1 week. This is normal- avoid picking or scrubbing these marks.
